NCBI has been running cooking workshops for some of its younger service users for the past 18 months in the Midlands. The workshops bring children who are blind or vision impaired together to learn important life skills like basic cooking skills. Providing peer support for the children and their families is one of NCBI’s primary goals in providing these important workshops. The workshops culminated with Chef Neven Maguire coming to judge the children's cooking.
A unique community garden has opened in Drumcondra, designed and managed by people who are blind or vision impaired. NCBI, the national sight loss organisation, unveiled its Community Garden at its Rehabilitation Training Centre on Whitworth Road in Drumcondra. The garden gives students a chance to learn more about horticulture and to use the fresh produce in their cookery classes.
