25 years of Trip to Tipp raising funds for NCBI

23rd September 2019, the National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) is delighted to be part of this years’ forthcoming ‘Trip to Tipp’ event. Run by the Blazing Bikers, which is a father and daughter team, Billy and Katriona Shanahan are now marking 25 years of the ‘Trip to Tipp’ event. It is one of the most popular charity sporting events in Tipperary and is dedicated to the memory of the late Lorrie Shanahan with all proceeds going to NCBI.

It takes place on Sunday, 6th October 2019 and participants are asked to cycle, walk or run in the event. This year, we will have a special guest, visually impaired runner Sinead Kane. The starting point is Ursuline Sports Complex, Templemore Road Thurles and participants can choose from different routes and start times.

  • 30am =  120km cycle to The Glen of Aherlow Challenge
  • 00am = 60km cycle doing the Scenic Tour of Tipperary. T
  • 15am = 10km family fun cycle
  • 00am = 10km walk and road run

Billy Shanahan, Chief organiser said “the ‘Trip to Tipp’ is a great event. We are delighted to be in our 25th year running it. We always have massive support from the people in our local community as it is such a long-standing fixture in people’s diaries. People know the incredible work NCBI has given me and my family over the years so they are happy to support the event”.
