Galway People, lend us your time!
Galway people know a good deal when they see one and their loyal patronage of one of Ireland’s leading charity retailers means that more volunteers are urgently needed to cope with demand.
The National Council for the Blind in Ireland, (NCBI), retail chain has grown to be a major force, becoming a go to place for quality items at great prices. The 8 shops in Galway help to raise hugely valuable funds for NCBI services to blind and visually impaired people in the county.
There are 2,623 people living with blindness and visual impairment in Galway.
Grainne Whiteside, Area Manager for the Connaught region says “We are now getting into our really busy season. Communions, Confirmations and Weddings are just some of the big occasions for us as savvy shoppers flock to our shops for the bargains”.
“We need more volunteers to help us cope with the growing demands of our shops in Galway. We are constantly on the go, items are coming in on a regular basis and thankfully we are getting in a great cross spread of items into our shops from fashion to footwear, many of which are brand new .They are little treasure troves and Galway people love to come in and have a good root”.
Grainne continues “It is great to see people coming in our shops and being dressed top to toe for a fraction of what it would cost in the high street. It is smart, savvy and the most important thing is that every single item sold through our NCBI shops goes towards the overall fundraising effort . Sight loss is increasing in Ireland and there is additional pressure on our services so please, I am saying to people in the county, if you have a few hours to spare please volunteer for the NCBI”. “Now that the days are getting longer, people have more get up and go so please channel that energy and lend us your time!”.
