Accredited Training for Volunteers in Europe (ACTIVE) is developing a flexible, adaptable and inclusive accredited training programme for volunteers working with people with disabilities, which will be available in Europe and will set a European standard in the training of volunteers serving people with disabilities.

Funded with the support of: Directorate General for Education and Training’s Leonardo da Vinci II programme.

  • Partners: Volunteering Ireland, the European Confederation on Employment of Disabled People, the Czech Blind Union, Peterborough College of Adult Education (UK), the Galician Confederation of People with Handicaps (Spain) and the Swedish Employment Service.
  • Duration: October 2005-2007

This project is developing a flexible, adaptable and inclusive accredited training programme for volunteers working with people with disabilities, which will be available in Europe and will set a European standard in the training of volunteers serving people with disabilities.

The training programme will be embedded as part of the normal working pattern of the partner organisations and it is anticipated that dissemination will lead to its adoption by other organisations. The partners are drawn from countries, which have different traditions in relation to volunteering and will provide a strong foundation for drawing on a wide range of best practice. NCBI has previously collaborated with all of the partners of the project through common networks and on a range of research and development activities.
