Carlow VEC was the venue for a recent cookery course for people who are blind or vision impaired.
The educational facility, which also funded the course, was tutored by Chef, Siobhan Flynn.
Participants Ellen Kavanagh, Karen Kealy and Michael Soames undertook the course over a six week period.
They were taught how to cook a range of sweet and savoury dishes as well as tips on how to prepare food safely.
Carlow resident and NCBI service user, Karen Kealy said “We all enjoyed the course immensely and learned a lot. It meant a lot to me as it gave me the confidence to cook and bake for my family and friends. I am glad to say they loved what I have produced!”.
And her favourite dish of the course.. “I loved the Mississippi Mud Pie and the Hungarian Goulash, they were delicious! ”.
