Sighted Guide Volunteers

Volunteer guides required for outings

  • Do you enjoy visits to art galleries, concerts, gardens and areas of local interest?
  • Do you occasionally find you have a day to spare?
  • Would you like to assist people who are blind and visually impaired on day trips and outings?

If you answer ‘yes’ to the above three questions we would LOVE to hear from you.

Volunteer purpose:

To guide and assist people who are blind or vision impaired on day trips and outings organised by NCBI regional teams.

Location:

Various. Visits to local parks, historic sights, art galleries, concerts and other social events.

Time commitment:

Outings typically take place on weekdays between 9am and 5pm. Each region plans a small number of events each year.

Skills required:

Outgoing, friendly, patient and kind.

Support provided:

Local NCBI staff will provide training on how to guide a blind person safely plus general awareness training.
