NCBI Fashion For-Sight Shout Out

Monday 20th April 2020, NCBI, Ireland’s second largest charity retailer, is calling on retailers to donate their unsold Spring season clothes for us to recycle instead of sending the clothes to landfill. The closure of stores due to Covid19 has had an adverse impact on many high street fashion retailers with the opportunity to sell their current Spring 2020 stock now passed.

Rosie Henson, NCBI Head of Retail said “We know the fast fashion industry is one of the planets top polluters, with 73% of textile garments ending up in landfill or incineration. We are asking retailers to demonstrate Fashion For-sight by seeing this as an opportunity to both improve their environmental practices by donating the clothes to us and in turn help us raise funds for delivery of our frontline services to those living with sight loss.”

NCBI, which has temporarily closed its 117 stores, is always looking to partner with high street retailers and already has an established relationship with Tesco. NCBI is hopeful of reopening its stores as soon as advisable. The funds raised through our stores ensures continuation of direct services offering emotional support, information and advice on living with sight loss, technology support as well as library, education and employment services.
