Sligo NCBI have a ball at Rosses Point

Members of NCBI Sligo and their helpers headed off in September for five days to Yeats Hotel Rosses Point. We have been going to this hotel for about five years and although it is quite near to home, access both outside and inside is all on the level, the corridors are wide, and the staff and the food are excellent. The leisure centre was an added bonus for those who wished to use it.

Our holiday included a music session with local talent and talent from Donegal, a quiz, keep fit mornings to music and bowling in Bundoran. We also had a shopping trip to Enniskillen and a guided visit to Lissadell House and gardens with afternoon tea. This was the original home of the Gore-Booths for over 400 years and the name Lissadell means Port of the Blind. Four years ago the whole estate was purchased by the present owners who have restored it to its original beauty.

There was plenty of craic and music every night — which proved to be late ones. Our youngest member of the group was six-week-old Keith who was very happy being looked after while his mother Helen enjoyed herself. This year three of our members had to use wheelchairs due to their decreasing mobility. We had plenty of manpower however on hand whenever necessary.
We thank all our local helpers and hotel staff once again for a well-deserved and truly enjoyable holiday.
