Thanks to Wyeth Medica of Newbridge for their generosity

The NCBI would like to take this opportunity to thank Wyeth Medica, Newbridge, for their very generous donation of €7,500 to the NCBI Early Learning Centre (ELC) in Clondalkin. The money was raised at a Christmas Carol Service, which included staff of Wyeth’s and children from the local Patrician Primary School, Newbridge.

Our special thanks goes to David Page and his wife Caroline who nominated the ELC as one of the chosen charities. David and Caroline’s son Sean attended the ELC from June 2005-2006 and this donation was made in memory of him.

We would also like to thank Elaine Kelly of Wyeth Medica for organising the presentation of the cheque.

Dancing into the money

Just Dance teachers Kim Fitzgerald and Sharon Bland hand over a cheque for €1,000 to John Fitzpatrick of NCBI, raised when their students took part in a dance-a-thon.

John Murphy of Blazing Saddles sadly passes away

NCBI’s Blazing Saddles were deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of a dear friend and fellow Blazing Saddle John Murphy of Portadown, Co. Armagh.

John suffered a heart attack and died suddenly having completed the Mexico 2008 Challenge in Acapulco on Wednesday, April 30th. Both John and his brother Brian were key members of NCBI’s cycling team for the last 15 years.

Phillip Cassidy, who led the team in Mexico said: “ I have had the pleasure of cycling with John on a number of occasions, abroad and at home over the past 10 years. We will always remember his support and the usual smile that he always seemed to wear.”

John will be dearly missed by his many friends and colleagues in NCBI and we would like to extend our sympathies to John’s wife and family.

Life By Vinnie Walker

As time goes by you begin to wonder
Weather your love is showing like thunder.
You try to turn it around but it just won’t change
So get your act together because its time to rearrange.

It may be easy to find out what’s wrong
But sometimes it can take way too long.
Give it a shot, you may find it works fast
Because whatever your problem is, lets hope it doesn’t last.

Have a passion and enjoy all of your life
Just don’t have bad thoughts and go under the knife.
Lift your head up, as high as it can go
But whatever happens, don’t go slow.

Go to college and develop a skill
But whatever you’re doing, it’s at your own will.
Choose your career that you really like
And you know that later on, it won’t go on a hike.

Grab and go, your dream awaits,
All you have to do is walk through the gates.
Hold it by the hand but don’t squeeze it tight.
Because it may be a danger later in the night.

You’ve reached your destination, now try and go forward,
And don’t stay where you are because you’ll only be a coward.
Good luck with it all because you’ll need it sunshine,
Your life is all cosy now so relax and have a glass of wine.
