Motorcycle Fancy Dress Parade raises funds for Wireless for the Blind.

The Dublin & District Motorcycle Club today presented a cheque for £5,350 to The Wireless for the Blind Committee, raised at their Fancy Dress Parade and Auction on St. Stephen's Day last. The motorcyclists have been involved in fundraising for Wirelesses for the Blind for almost 50 years, and have raised a grand total of £78,850 since 1952.

The funds raised will help provide essential services to the blind and visually impaired, including Talking Books, Tape Recorders, Radios and Taped Newspapers and Magazines. Mr. Harry Finlay, President of the Dublin & District Motorcyle Club presented Mr. Henry C. Tierney, Chairman of the National Council for the Blind of Ireland with the considerable amount at the NCBI Head Office in Drumcondra today. Speaking at the event, Mr. Tierney thanked the club and their sponsors Odlums and Philips for their continued support and generosity. "The Wireless for the Blind Committee is once again delighted to be associated with the Dublin & District Motorcycle Club, and in particular to this most unusual Fancy Dress Parade. We look forward to further future events with them."
