Each year the National Council for the Blind of Ireland in association with Aer Rianta initiates the Christmas Celebrations at Dublin Airport with the lighting of our Tree of Light. Last Christmas Season over 200 companies joined with the National Council for the Blind of Ireland in our fundraising Tree of Light project at Dublin Airport.
This year to celebrate NCBI's 70th Anniversary the Tree of Light will be bigger and brighter than ever. At over seventy foot tall, it will be adorned with 1,931 bulbs to celebrate our 70 years (1931-2001) of providing essential services to the blind and visually impaired. The cost of the bulbs will remain at £200 per bulb.
NCBI's Tree of Light Project Coordinator, Allison Harvey has already started work on fundraising for this year's Tree of Light. "We’ve had a very positive response from the public so far this year" says Allison. "Most companies have welcomed the opportunity to celebrate our 70th Anniversary by supporting the Tree of Light.
