Statement in response to announcement that St. Marys will not close

The National Council for the Blind of Ireland has express praise and gratitude to the Sisters of Charity for further postponing the closure of St. Mary's School for Vision Impaired Girls, against their expressed wish for the co-education of girls in a suitable special needs environment. It is hopeful that the good will of the sisters will not be further taken advantage of by the continuing failure by the Department of Education to promote and provide for the education of vision impaired boys and girls.
