Podcasting has changed the landscape of media delivery over the last year. NCBI is capitalising on this new wave of media by offering podcasts of our NCBI News magazine.
Podcasts are audio files that are publicly available on the internet and which can be automatically downloaded to a user's computer. Podcasting has become particularly popular over the last year in large part due to its integration with iTunes, which enables users to easily subscribe to a podcast series and download it to their computer. They can then listen to the podcast on their computer or on an MP3 player. Though often associated with iPods, podcasts can be listened to on almost any computer or MP3 player.
Podcasts are particularly well-suited for people with vision impairments because of the audio format. And the subscription capabilities of podcasting simplify and ease the delivery of the content.
