First blind woman to contest Senate election on NUI panel

Tina Lowe is the first ever blind person to run for the Senate.

She works for AHEAD (Association for Higher Education Access and Disability) and runs a project called GET AHEAD – the National Forum of Graduates with Disabilities.

Tina's promise: "If elected to the Seanad I will not only fight for the rights of my fellow disabled but for the rights of other marginalised groups who also encounter discrimination, alienation and economic disadvantage (for some people the Celtic Tiger has not roared nor even purred)."
