Air travel regulation comes into force, ensuring greater rights for people with disabilities

Release Date: Jun 28th, 2007

For people with disabilities, air travel has often been infuriating and confusing, with different rules being implemented by various airlines and airports, leaving people unsure of their rights.

Now there is to be binding legislation at European level, which will protect the rights of people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility when travelling by air. The first phase of the EU regulation, which ensures that passengers cannot be denied the right to book a flight or board an aircraft on the grounds of disability or reduced mobility, will come into force in July 2007, with the entire regulation being rolled out in July 2008.
