Birdsong CD Available Through NCBI Library

A new CD containing the songs and calls of birds is available to members of NCBI's Library service.

‘A Guide to Birding by Ear’ is a compilation of bird songs and calls of various common Irish Birds and has been produced to assist people who are blind or vision impaired in listening to, and identifying, local birds by their songs or calls.

The CD was produced through a partnership involving NCBI, the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) and the British Library. Bank of Scotland (Ireland) provided the funds to produce two hundred (200) copies of the CD while the British Library supplied some of the bird songs and calls.

The script for the CD was composed and read by Jim Wilson which was recorded at NCBI’s Library and Media Centre in Finglas, Dublin.
The CD is available from 28th July 2008 and will be available free of charge to members of NCBI’s Braille, Large Print and Audio Library.
