Have you low vision or no vision and would like to have a go at golf, tennis or tug of war? Maybe try the triathlon sports of running, swimming or tandem cycling? Have a ball at football, goalball or blackball?
You must head for MayFest, the weekend carnival of sport for blind and vision impaired people, friends and family. It’s all happening from 19th to 21st May next at ALSAA, beside Dublin Airport and various other Dublin venues.
RTE star Derek Mooney and the fastest Paralympian on Earth Jason Smyth will be on hand to greet you at MayFest.
You may not find Mooney’s Money but you may find Mooney’s Medals as Dereck will launch MayFest and then present prizes at ALSAA on the Saturday afternoon. Vision Sports Board Member and Director of Strategy and Development Jason Smyth will be right there beside you for the weekend no matter what your endeavour.
It all starts at ChildVision on Friday 19th May with TalkFest. In between chatting about marketing and sponsorship we drink coffee and try out adapted tennis, judo and visit an equestrian centre. We’ll also entertain you with video clips of exciting new sports ideal for people with vision impairment.
From talk sport to walk sport we head out early on Saturday morning for a 6k stroll around Newbridge Domain. Alternatively, you may wish to get exercised with a 10 or 20 mile tandem tour around the Dublin Airport / Dunshough. Across at ALSAA a football tournament for partially sighted players will kick in alongside competitions in tennis and tenpin.
It all happens at ALSAA on Saturday afternoon with come and try time at sports as varied as athletics, blind football, blind golf, goalball, indoor rowing, novelty, swimming, tandems and tug of war plus more.
Saturday night should provide the Vision Sports social highlight of the year as we head for Lansdowne Lawn Tennis Club for a 3 course meal followed by up to the minute LIVE entertainment.
We’ll ease out of the weekend on Sunday afternoon with some blackball and indoor bowling as well as the close of the football tournament at ALSAA.
Dublin hotel accommodation prices during May could be sky high. Vision Sports has a limited amount of self-catering facilities available at a very keen price for the MayFest weekend. For further information contact Joe at firstname.lastname@example.org
