NCBI Charity Shops (Spring 2009)

Four More for Mrs. Quin

2008 has been a busy time for the Mrs. Quin’s shops and the new outlets in Monaghan, Ballinrobe, Charleville and Sligo are thriving.
Recent additions are Mullingar, Virginia Co. Cavan and the relocated shop in Carlow town. Radio presenter Paschal Mooney officially opened the Sligo shop and we had a pleasant and profitable afternoon. Manager Olivia Diskin reports excellent sales, as does Kathleen O’Brien, new manager in Virginia.

Another opening ceremony took place in Mullingar, performed by Rev Canon Patrick Carmody and Michael Harding, who writes about Mullingar weekly in the Irish Times. Manager Pearl Brock Dineen has already gathered a number of volunteers in this central location on Mary St.

Another good fundraiser for 2008 was the ‘Fashion Show with a Twist’ held in Claremorris in November. Three Mayo shops took part, and managers liaised with Area Supervisor Graínne Whiteside for a wonderful evening, which netted more than €3,000.
