SensAge – Lifelong Learning Needs for Ageing People with Sensory Disabilities
SensAge is a European Network of Networks, Associations and Organisations addressing the issues of enabling ageing people with sensory disabilities – blind/visual impairment, deaf/hearing impairment, and deafblind – to take part in lifelong learning.
ICFProViP
The ICF is an international classification of health and health-related domains approved and published by the World Health Organisation in 2001. The use of the ICF model in assessment and service delivery allows for a common language to be used across the professions in relation to the needs of service users, which should increase the ability of professionals to provide a focused standardised response while acknowledging and addressing the service users’ perspective and enhancing their participation in the decision making process. XPress Your Vision

eVision55+
The aim of this project is to encourage LifeLong Learning among people with vision impairments aged 55 and over through internet based communication. The project hopes to achieve this by developing and delivering a daily living skills programme, low vision consultation including training in aids and appliances and a training course on using the internet. The participants will be encouraged to use email, chatrooms, forums and virtual conference rooms. This project will be led by BFW Halle with a duration of 2 years from January 2008.
KnowProVip
This project began in October 2007 and will run for 2 years. It is a follow on from another project called ProViptrain. Its main aim is to improve the job qualifications of professionals working with people with vision impairments by developing training modules. The expected outcome for the project is further training programmes as well as a network and website for the exchange of specialised knowledge. The project leaders will be IBOS (The Danish Institute for Blind and Partially Sighted). For more information on the first project can be found at www.knowprovip.dk.

DICOMP-S.net
DICOMP-S.net is a free screen reader for use at home. As part of the project, the screen reader is being translated into German, Estonian, Slovakian and Italian. A tutors training course is also being developed which will be delivered to two NCBI IT trainers in order to support new users. ValorVIP
This project involved a conference which recently took place in Austria with the aim of sharing the results of projects, in particular projects funded by the Leonardo da Vinci programme which funds European projects relating to vocational education and training. AHVIIT Access
The AHVIIT project aims to design, produce and test learning materials in the form of “talking tactiles”, as well as creating an online training programme for teachers in an effort to encourage acceptance of e-learning. As the user touches any part of the “talking tactile” overlay, such as diagrams, maps or graphs, associated sound files will deliver lesson content material.
Robobraille
Robobraille is a new software package and pan-European email service for Braille and text-to-speech translation.

This project has recently finished after 2 years. NCBI led in the development of a training course for volunteers working with people with disabilities.
