You can’t see for someone with sight loss
But €7 a month could open up a new world of independence.
At NCBI, our services help people of all ages with blindness or sight loss to live independent and fulfilling lives.
But while demand is growing, funding is diminishing. We can’t let that happen.
What is the i-can Appeal?
The i-can Appeal is a special appeal to support our vital services for people with low vision or blindness all over Ireland.
It’s a special fund to ensure that people can continue to access the vital services they absolutely need, including:
- Low vision [2]
- Rehabilitation & mobility training [3]
- Early learning for children [4]
- Employment support [5]
- Access to specialised equipment [6]
- Professional counselling [7]
- Audio, braille and large print library services [8]
- New assistive technologies [9]
Inspired by the people who benefit from it most
We started the i-can Appeal in response to the initiative shown by the people we help every day, who are trying to make sure they can continue to get the specialised services they need in the face of reduced funding.
Why help?
People with blindness or sight loss are citizens just like anyone else. But many face enormous barriers and challenges just to negotiate ordinary life.
Whether that’s a restriction on getting around in public places and at home, or reduced career prospects and social mobility, change needs to happen.
We passionately believe that people who are blind or vision impaired should have the same opportunities, rights and choices as others to fully participate in society.
