The library holds more than 10,000 accessible books, while even more titles can be borrowed from other international libraries. We also provide regular newspapers, popular Irish magazines and journals on audiotape and in braille to over 1,500 subscribers.

Downloadable audio books

NCBI Library unlocks the world of reading to people with sight problems. Check out our new downloadable audio book service. You can now listen to books on your computer, transfer them onto your mp3 player or disc within minutes to enjoy anytime, anywhere. All you need is an Internet connection. There are about 260 downloadable titles available for you to loan, which will be expanding more and more each month. The library stocks thousands of talking books for both adults and children.

Large print books

We hold the largest collection of large print novels for children in Ireland. The collection of adult large print books also contains titles on all topics and interests.

Braille books

As with our audio books, we specialise in the production of Irish interest titles in braille.

Magazines and newspapers

NCBI’s professional readers read extracts from a wide range of newspapers and magazines, which are recorded in our state-of-the-art studios.

NCBI Archive Project

NCBI Archive project is an archive of material submitted by people who are blind or vision impaired which aims to capture their perception what life is like today in the Republic of Ireland. The topics recorded relate to education, employment, and parenting to name but a few.
