TUTORIAL: CREATING AN AUDIO CD USING CDBURNERXP

This tutorial has been written by our Technical Support Officer Paul Traynor.

To carry out the below instructions you will need a piece of software called, “CDBurnerXP” which you can download and install from the following link:

https://cdburnerxp.se/en/download

If you prefer a more direct download of the software without having to navigate through its general homepage use this following link:

https://cdburnerxp.se/downloadsetup.exe

Now lets get started first with the downloading of the software that will ultimately make our audio CD as follows:

  1. When you enter on the above link after a moment or two you will be prompted by Internet Explorer to “Run or save” the file. Use keys, “Left alt + letter N” to move to the choices of “Run or save” and then press keys, “Left alt + Letter R”.
  2. Once the file has downloaded and is ready to install the “Windows security screen” will pop up asking if you want to allow this program to be installed. Choose “Yes” by using the “Tab key” and then press “Spacebar” once on “Yes” to begin the installation of CDBurnerXP.

Notes: The installation will be fully automatic and when it has completed a “Close” button will be available for you to press the “Spacebar” on in order to complete the installation process.

To begin using CDBurnerXP, follow the below instructions:

  1. Go onto your main desktop using keys, “Winkey + M or even Winkey + D”. Either key combination should take your focus on there.
  2. From the desktop press letter “C” till you locate “CDBurnerXP” and press “Enter key” once. Wait for it to open up.
  3. you will have the following choices;

*. Video DVD, (Sub menu)

*. Audio CD (Sub menu)

*. Burn ISO Image (Sub menu)

*. Copy or grab disk (Sub menu)

*. Erase disk (Sub menu)

*. Data disk (Sub menu)

Notes: The above list reflects a range of things that CDBurnerXP can do if used correctly.

  1. Press the “Down arrow” till you come to ” Audio CD (Sub menu)” and press the “Enter key” once.
  2. On the next screen that pops up, press the keys, “Control + J” where an “Open file dialogue box” appears, much the same as you get normally whenever you try opening up files in other software.

Notes: When this “Open dialogue box” appears it is usually focused on the area of your “Main Desktop”. As this is the case it would be very helpful to have a “Documents” shortcut placed on your desktop along with any other shortcuts found there so that you can access the documents folder more conveniently.

Because of the fact you will be looking for your songs perhaps within your main documents folder I would suggest creating a folder in it and call it “Burn”. In here I would store any MP3 files I wished to burn to CD using CDBurnerXP. The point of this is that when it comes to adding in my songs to the CDBurnerXP burn list which has to be done, will prove easier than having to search elsewhere on the computer for those same songs.

  1. Assuming we have all the above taken care off we should now go ahead and press keys, “Control + J” once. When the “Open file dialogue” appears, press the “Tab key” twice. This should land your focus onto your “Main desktop area” where you can now locate the Documents shortcut and press the “Enter key” once on it then wait for it to open.
  2. When you are now focused within your Documents folder look for the “Burn” folder where the song files are contained and press “Enter key” once to open.
  3. Once the songs inside are listed there in front of you and if you wish to have them all burned to the CD then use keys, “Control + A” pressed once to select them and then press the “Enter key” once to have them added to “CDBurnerXP’s burn list”. When the songs have been copied over to CDBurnerXP you will find focus now shifts onto the “Burn list” and all songs in the list are visible here.

Notes: As a rule I have found that I can only fit about 18 songs onto a standard blank CD so it might be a good idea to stick with this number when burning songs or you may encounter errors during the burning process.

  1. The next part of the burning process is to begin preparing the burning of the songs. Press keys, “Control + B” once and a new screen opens up with the following options;

*. Burn speed, (Combo box). 16x is the default which I leave as is.

*. Number of copies, (Edit combo) 1 is the default.

Note: An “Edit combo” means that while this can contain multiple choices you can also type in your own if you wanted more than one copy of that CD.

*. Enable CD-Text, (Checkbox) checked by default.

*. A pause for 1 second between tracks, (Checkbox) checked.

*. Pause length, (combo box) set to 1.

*. Simulate burning process, (Checkbox) not checked.

*. Finalise disk, (Checkbox) checked.

*. Shutdown computer after completion, (Checkbox) not checked.

*. Eject disk after burning, (Checkbox) Checked.

*. Burn disk, (Button) “Use spacebar” once to activate.

*. Cancel, (Button) “Use spacebar” once to activate.

  1. Now assuming all your above mentioned settings are as you like them just press “Spacebar” once on the “Burn disk” button to begin the burn process.

Notes: This burning process will take a bit of time but you’ll know when it completes as the “CD door” will eject when the disk has finished burning.
