Virtual Technology Club 31st May 2018

Virtual Technology Club

Join us from 7:00 pm on Thursday 31st May for our next Virtual Technology Club meeting. The Virtual Technology Club was established in April of last year in recognition of the fact that for many people with sight loss who rely on technology to live an independent life, it can be difficult to travel to access training or support, or to meet other users and share knowledge.

This month we’re delighted to welcome Hans Jørgen, from the popular Be My Eyes service. Hans will be telling us what’s been happening at Be My Eyes, and you’ll hear about an exciting initiative taking place with Dairygold.

We’ll also be taking time to talk about GDPR, the new General data Protection Regulation and how this will impact on future updates from NCBI in relation to the Virtual technology Club and other news you may wish to receive from us.

Finally, as well as your own comments and questions in our open forum, we’ll take time to remember our friend and colleague Paul Traynor, who died suddenly in April.

New participants are always welcome, so if you haven’t been involved before, please do join the conversation!

Our Virtual Technology Club is using a meeting platform called Zoom to allow us all to connect and speak together. Zoom has a software client for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, and what’s really great is that you don’t even have to install the software to join the meetings.

Our Virtual Technology Club User Guide will walk you step-by-step through connecting to our virtual meeting room on your computer, phone or tablet using Zoom.
