Camp Abilities 2022

children at camp abilities

NCBI will host Camp Abilities, our residential sports, and physical activities camp for children between the ages of 10-14 years old with vision impairments in April 2022. At Camp Abilities Ireland, we provide children with the chance to experience new sports and activities that they may not have had the opportunity to attempt before while also helping to improve access to activities that they may already be involved in. By exploring new activities and learning new skills, children can discover something they enjoy, build their self-esteem and confidence, and find new recreation and physical activity opportunities in their own communities. Campers have participated in rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, orienteering, soccer, goalball, judo, swimming, horseback riding, and many other activities since our first Camp Abilities camp in Ireland in 2010.

Applications for campers are now open for April 2022, please keep an eye on this website and follow us on social media to get updates.

The camp will be held in a new location this year in County Limerick, at the Kilfinane Outdoor Education & Training Centre. We are looking forward to settling into our new home for the week, making new connections and friends!

Here is what a previous volunteer at camp abilities had to say, “I saw a side to myself I didn’t know I had. Once you see the activities that they are doing, you kind of have a connection straight away. You’re going to know yourself, that it’s something you want to be part of!”
