In this Level 3 Smart Speaker course, we explore further features available on the Amazon Echo smart speaker and how they can be used to help people who are blind or partially sighted. We cover how to change the Alexa voice and speech rate, make Alexa-to-Alexa calls and text messaging, use the “Drop-In” feature, demonstrate how smart home devices, such as lights, thermostats, video doorbells and plugs, may be used with Alexa, as well as the purpose and benefit of Alexa Routines. We also highlight some of the features of the MyNCBI Alexa skill.
