How I See Campaign part two – Everyday Living

The Vision Ireland How I See over picture has a navy and white background. The Vision Ireland logo is in the top left of the image, while a clip art image of a man with a white cane walking across a road crossing is over to the right of the image. The text on the image reads How I See Campaign 2023. Everyday Living.

Welcome to NCBI’s How I See Campaign 2023! We hope this campaign will provide some insight into what everyday life is like for people who are blind or vision impaired.

This Campaign stems from service users and advocates highlighting to us the common misconceptions among the wider public on what they believe it is like to be blind or vision impaired. The How I See Campaign aims to inform and educate the public about the realities of living with sight loss and to answer many questions people may have but are too afraid to ask.

In part one of the campaign, we asked those involved to describe, for people who might not be aware, what their vision actually looks like for them and the reaction to the video was as brilliant, varied and positive as we had hoped.

We are now revealing part two of the NCBI’s How I See campaign 2023! In this part, we have more NCBI service users who were very generous in speaking about how they go about different aspects of what we consider to be everyday life.

This ranges from how a person who is blind or vision impaired might pick their clothes for the day, to how they might make a cup of tea or coffee.

Once again, it is important to remember that each person will have different techniques or systems that they use to go about their day and each one of those is as valid as the next.

Check out part two of our campaign and don’t be afraid to let us know in our social media and YouTube posts about this campaign about your tips, tricks and techniques for everyday life. You never know, your insight might help someone else!
