NCBI celebrates as Highland Radio Bingo raises over €270,000

Joanne McCarney, Vision Ireland Fundraising Executive, and Danny Cahill, Vision Ireland National Services Manager for the Adult Team, accept a cheque for Vision Ireland for over €270,000 from the team at Highland Radio Bingo.

Friday 30th September 2022, NCBI is delighted to celebrate with Highland Radio Bingo because our collaboration has raised over €270,000 to help people who are blind or vision impaired in the north west and right across Ireland. With these funds, NCBI has been able to work with almost 300 individuals of all ages and their families in Donegal so far this year.

Danny Cahill, NCBI National Services Manager for the Adult Team said “When a person is referred to NCBI, staff is available to give advice and information from a practical and emotional perspective, while also providing support in areas related to assistive technology, employment support, training and rehabilitation, sport and exercise and so much more. Support from Highland Radio and Highland Radio Bingo players is a huge piece of the puzzle to allow us to continue to empower people who are blind or vision impaired in Donegal and beyond.’

Joanne McCarney, NCBI Fundraising Executive, added “We receive funding for our services through the HSE but there’s always a shortfall and we rely on donations, our retail shops and fundraising activities like Highland Radio Bingo to ensure that we are able to continue to provide supports and services to people in Donegal and around Ireland when they need them. We can’t thank all the Highland Radio Bingo supporters enough for everything they do for the sight loss community.’

To play Highland Radio Bingo purchase your NCBI Radio Bingo book at a cost of €5 from any of the participating stores, which are all listed on the Highland Radio Bingo website page. Books are sold for one week in advance and are not available to buy after Friday each week. The Bingo numbers are posted on the website page, on the Highland Radio Facebook page and are also read out live on air five times each day.
