NCBI How I See Campaign part three – Using Transport

The Vision Ireland How I See over picture has a navy and white background. The Vision Ireland logo is in the top left of the image, while a clip art image of a man with a white cane walking across a road crossing is over to the right of the image. The text on the image reads How I See Campaign 2023. Using Transport.

Welcome to NCBIā€™s How I See Campaign 2023! We hope this campaign will provide some insight into what everyday life is like for people who are blind or vision impaired.

This Campaign stems from service users and advocates highlighting to us the common misconceptions among the wider public on what they believe it is like to be blind or vision impaired. The How I See Campaign aims to inform and educate the public about the realities of living with sight loss and to answer many questions people may have but are too afraid to ask.

InĀ part one of the campaign, we asked those involved to describe, for people who might not be aware, what their vision actually looks like for them. In part two we have more NCBI service users we asked participants about how they go about different aspects of what we consider to be everyday life.

In part three of NCBI’s How I See Campaign 2023, four of NCBI’s service users speak about using public transport. They explain the different accommodations they might need or techniques that they use to successfully use public transport systems.

As we’re now learning throughout this campaign, we will once again hear how everyone does things differently. Those differences might be slight or they might vast, but they are different nonetheless. Each person has their own individual needs, which directly affects how they interact with the transport systems they use.

Enjoy the video and don’t forget to like and comment on social media about how you use transport and subscribe to the NCBI YouTube channel for more great content.
