NCBI Labs Technology Live Event 55

On the show this week we are joined by David Nason from Apple Vis to find out about the latest features and functions in iOS 15 following its public release last week. Highlights include being able to perform more tasks with Siri off-line, a new VoiceOver Quick Settings menu, and a new feature called Live Text that allows you to read text from photos and with the Camera app.

We look back at some of the highlights from Apple’s recent ‘California Streaming’ event that introduced us to the iPhone 13 Series, the Apple Watch Series 7, a new iPad, and a new iPad mini.

NV Access has announced that version 2021.2 of NVDA, the free screen reader for Microsoft Windows, is now available for download. We find out what’s new in the latest release and how to update if you’re an existing NVDA user.

In our Tech News, we check out some updates set to come to Amazon Echo, including a new feature called ‘adaptive volume’ where Alexa will respond more loudly if it detects it’s in a noisy environment. We also find out how McDonalds is going to be adding a screen reader and tactile buttons to all its kiosks in US Stores, providing blind and vision impaired customers with full access to restaurant menus.
