Thursday 7th April 2022 Modular building experts Portakabin (Ireland) has partnered with NCBI (National Council for the Blind of Ireland) by volunteering to donate its surplus furniture supplies to the charity in and around Dublin, Meath, Kildare, Wicklow and Wexford.
Ronan O’Brien, Building Services Supervisor for Portakabin (Ireland) was looking for a way to ensure the surplus supplies they were holding at their Head Office in Donabate would be reused or recycled, in keeping with the sustainable business model Portakabin champions in the modular rental market.
Ronan contacted the NCBI and the first donation of almost 200 items will be handed over to Ireland’s national sight loss agency on 7th April 2022.
The selection of chairs and desks will be used by NCBI service users both in their regional offices and day resource centres. For over 90 years, NCBI has helped make Ireland a better place for those who are blind, or vision impaired, and the charity relies on corporate and personal donations to help it drive awareness and education of sight related issues around the country.
Ronan O’Brien from Portakabin commented: “We’re delighted to be able to collaborate with NCBI, it’s a charity we’re proud to be able to support. We hope the donation we have made today will be the first of many in order to support those who use the charity as well as raise awareness and ensure ongoing access to vital programmes in the areas of education, employment and social engagement.
