Radio Bingo comes to Louth and Meath!

Radio bingo

Tuesday 20th April 2021, NCBI (National Council for the Blind of Ireland) and LMFM have partnered to bring Radio Bingo to the North East.  Players play weekdays for daily prizes of €400, and a jackpot prize of up to €25,000 every Wednesday.  Numbers are called live on air before the news bulletins at 8am, 10am, noon, 2pm, and 4pm.

The unique approach offers bingo players the chance to have a live game of bingo during a time when public events are so limited.

Joe McKenna, NCBI Head of Fundraising said “We have been delighted with the response to date in other counties.  People think it is a novel way to have some fun, connect with their local radio station and to support a worthy cause at the same time.

Players can order their books (€5 for the five games per week) on NCBI.ie or from a local retailers throughout Louth and Meath.

Family members of those who may be isolated are seeing the Radio Bingo as a nice gift – an activity for a parent or neighbour who may be spending more time indoors.  Bingo books can be delivered to the family member at their own address.

Each day the player fills out start-up numbers on the daily panels and then listens for the 10 numbers on air or can catch them again by going online or by calling the Daily Numbers line. Prizes are claimed before 8pm each evening.

Funds generated by Radio Bingo supports the charity’s work with people who are blind or vision impaired through a wide variety of services including days centres, rehabilitation support, training, employment, library services and social connection.

Mr McKenna added “Our services bring hope and opportunity, particularly at a time when social distancing rules makes it more difficult for people with sight loss.”
