The winning teams of the All-Ireland final of the country’s largest charity golf tournament will travel to St. Andrews!

17th September 2019, The National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) held the All-Ireland final of the HolmPatrick Cup and Granard Cup on Sunday 15th September 2019. This is the longest-running and largest men’s and women’s charity golf tournament and this year saw over 30% of men’s and 25% of women’s golf clubs field teams to participate in the competition.

Both tournaments are over 80 years old and steeped in history, starting in 1932, it is named after Edina Conyngham, Baroness HolmPatrick, who donated the trophy to NCBI at its inauguration. The Baroness was a granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington. The tournament is a well-established highlight in the calendar of golf clubs around the country.

The All-Ireland final took place in the Balbriggan golf club, with 24 teams in total taking part. Despite the blustery weather conditions, Rossmore Golf Club from Co. Monaghan triumphantly took the HolmPatrick cup for the men, while the ladies teams fought it out on the course for the Granard cup with Athlone Golf Club being victorious, winning with 44 points.

Chris White, NCBI CEO said; “This is the oldest golf charity tournament in the country with the fitting prize being to play on the oldest golf course in the world in St.Andrews, Scotland.
