Vision Series – NCBI launches informational video series

Vision Series, Guide for optometrists

14th December 2020 NCBI is delighted to announce the launch of its Vision Series videos. This is a series of informational videos developed by NCBI highlighting different types of vision loss and how NCBI services can reassure and support people who are blind or vision impaired in Ireland. The first video entitled ‘Guide for Optometrists’ focuses on how NCBI services can complement the role of Optometrists by offering holistic rehabilitative services to their patients.

June Tinsley, NCBI Head of Advocacy and Communications explains – “This series of videos, kindly sponsored by Novartis, is an ideal way to enhance understanding of how NCBI services can support a wide range of professionals who work with people who are blind or vision impaired. This includes eye care professionals, nursing home staff, hospital nurses and teachers. These videos are also beneficial to individuals who’ve recently been diagnosed with sight loss and their families. It is important that a holistic view is taken on how sight loss affects every aspect of a person’s life and how NCBI can help them adjust and adapt.”

Four videos in total will be developed spanning the themes:

  1. Guide for Optometrists
  2. Age Related Macular Degeneration
  3. Paediatric Vision Impairment
  4. Neurological Vision Impairment (sight loss arising from a stroke)

All videos will be available on NCBI You Tube channel with the first one available here:
