‘What’s the craic Alexa?’ Amazon is rolling out a new Irish accent to its line of Echo smart speakers. Amazon announced this on November 18th. This is going to be released on a phased basis, so if you did not get it already it will be with you very soon.

Denis Stansbury, Alexa country manager for UK and Ireland, has said “personalisation of our devices is a highly desirable feature. When customers told us they wanted an Irish-English voice option for Alexa we knew we had a big challenge on our hands as there’s so many different and distinct Irish accents”.

If you want to check if your Alexa smart speaker has the new voice, try saying “Alexa change your voice” and Alexa will respond by going through all the available voices.

Other dialects available include two British voices, two Australian voices, two Canadian voices, and two Indian voices. If the Irish voice is not available to you right now you can get a sample of it by saying to your smart speaker, “Alexa do an Irish accent.”
